The “Blue Collar” Coach: Mark Mangino
Coach Mark Mangino helped coach four different programs during their turnaround: He joined Jim Tressel's first staff at Youngstown State University; He coached with Bill Snyder at Kansas State University during their transformation from one of the nation's worst programs to perennial top-twenty power; he coached with Bob Stoops, leading Oklahoma to an undefeated national championship in just their second season; at the University of Kansas as head coach, Mangino led Kansas to its greatest season in school history and an Orange Bowl Championship.
BOWL GAMES:
Mangino has coached in 13 bowl games over a 16 year period, including a National Championship with the Oklahoma Sooners in 2000 and in bowl games 9 straight years
KANSAS TURNAROUND:
Coach Mangino led Kansas to four bowl games(including their only Orange Bowl Victory) in first seven years after taking over a program which had not posted a winning season in any of the 6 seasons prior to his arrival
